Fun and Addictive (5 stars) By Johnny737 – Version 1.3 – Jan 5, 2010
“I actually am an airline pilot and I love this game. Having control over speed, heading, and altitude make this a realistic and challenging game. You won’t be able to put it down!”

Excellent! (5 stars) By GSwarthout – Version 1.3 – Jan 4, 2010
“As a former Air Traffic Controller (from ZOA), this is the Air Traffic Control game I was hoping to find when I first got my iPod Touch. Other games billed as ATC are nothing more than drawing flightpaths with your finger. This app, on the other hand, gives you full control of heading, speed, and altitude in one rather ingenious HUD.”

Imagine being the air traffic controller at a busy airport. No plane gets in or out without your say so and guidance. It’s up to you to ensure that all take-offs and landings go smoothly, the lives of passengers and crews are in your hands. Are your skills up to directing flight traffic in a way that avoids disaster? Can you handle the pressure of multiple requests coming in from various aircraft?

ATC Pro uses a USGS map approach for more interesting and realistic playing experiences. It won’t take long before you feel like a real air traffic controller and are hopelessly addicted to ATC Pro.

Of course, the idea is to get passengers to where they are going with no disasters or near misses occurring. However, there may be times when you’ve had a bad day or crave a little extra excitement and decide to let an aircraft crash. This results in a fireball, complete with an explosion sound. At this point, the game may or not be over. It depends on how you’ve opted to do your settings. You can choose whether to allow crashes, lost aircraft and more.

The following options are available:
* Allow crashes without terminating
* Allow lost aircraft without terminating
* Allow emergencies (low fuel)
* Allow small aircraft
* Sound effects (new arrivals, lost aircraft, crashes)

As this is likely your first stint as an air traffic controller, you might be nervous about getting started. Don’t worry, there are tutorial levels for landing and takeoffs to help you get your air legs. After that, there are scenarios designed to put more and more pressure on the controller (you) to route aircraft to their destinations without losing or crashing any aircraft. Comprehensive help is available from within the simulation scenario, including the specific scoring rules for each.

This application includes takeoff and landing tutorials as well as the following scenarios:
* Handle 5 landings (practice)
* Handle 5 takeoffs (practice)
* Handle 10 aircraft landing and taking off
* Handle 20 aircraft landing and taking off
* Play Until Incident (crash or lost aircraft)
* Play 5 minute speed round
* Play 10 minute speed round

The app offers different maps with a choice of Detroit (DTW) or Chicago (ORD) airport locations and runway layouts, which challenge you to come up with the safest approach and departure patterns. Zoom and pan features allow you to focus on a close landing and other situations that call for your expert skills.

ATC Pro is the simulation air traffic control app that will keep you engaged and set your heart racing. Future versions will introduce new map areas with multiple airports and more challenges to keep the excitement alive and feed your addiction for this app.

Pros and cons of ATC Pro app for iPhone and iPad

ATC Pro app good for

There is no doubt this is the most realistic air traffic contoller on the app store. I found it a little slow at first as there is a learning curve to it, but once you get the hang of it you will no doubt enjoy this. The other atc games are as fun but this game brings more control of each aircraft. That extra control brings this app out on top of the others for realism. You have full control of the map with zoom and pan. It would be nice to have a little more detail on the maps and to have night or day light setting. Overal Im happy with the purchase.
Some suggestions, be able to remove the scenario white text at the top as its kind of annoying (not the aircraft info) and allow for there to just be a survival mode or something just from the get-go instead of having to do all the previous missions first. Also some more sound effects would be nice. Overall great app and exactly what I was looking for.
Ive searched many of ATC Sim on itunes and found this is the best one on itunes at the time.
I think the game is really good, and really addicting. The idea behind it is excellent and it is truly realistic. A couple things that would be awesome to see is more airports, a more realistic sound, the Microsoft sounds dont really sound good with the game. Adding something like "roger" or "cleared to land" or "released to the North" would help figure out if we accidently unselected an aircraft rather then give them that command we wanted to hive them. The game is good, just keep improving it and people will be willing to pay more than $1.99 for it.
A lot of fun and its challenging as well. Would rate 5 stars if it had more airports. I would love to see JFK, LAX, ATL and DFW. Would also be fun to have aircraft type on the flight information tag on the planes.
I love this game. Having control over speed, heading, and altitude make this a realistic and challenging game. You wont be able to put it down! After having played the game now for a month or so I have two tweeks for the programmers: Dont have the inbound jets enter at 500 kias, if you miss the arrival sound or have sounds turned off they are on top or past the airport before you realize it; and have the inbound aircraft enter at altitutudes of 500 ft increments, ie 2500. I have had several games end where my outbound plane ran into a co-altitude inbound that I had no idea was entering. Still a sweet game that I constantly play.

Some bad moments

Its confusing. Granted, Ive only played it once. Will change review later.
Like the new update! Glad to see more maps. Dtw/yip difficult especially since YIP runways are so small. The flight info is a nice addition, but it can really clog the screen when things get busy, especially on the ground. Keep the updates coming, JFK/LGA, ORD/MDW.
The new version appears to have a flaw. Selecting the planes is very difficult. Please correct it. Thx.
I have updated my 3GS every time a new update is available. I still cant select an aircraft to maneuver it. All other games on my phone work properly through the Touch interface. I would love to play this again sometime. Thinking about downloading the iatc app. Please fix this or provide some recommendations.
I had this app before and I must say, I would give it five stars-very addicting, challenging, and works your deft thinking out. But the issue now is that the time acceleration doesnt work, the plane in the tutorial is placed in the middle of nowhere-nowhere NEAR the airport, and once its flying in a straight line (supposedly) it doesnt move! So Im not too happy about that-I want to actually play this app again!!!
This is NOT an air traffic control simulator as the description would lead you to believe. Its just another air traffic control game which happens to be a bit more complicated than drawing lines with your finger for the planes to follow. I wish there was a free version to try before hand. The game also forces you to complete tutorials before the rest of the game is unlocked. Thats total BS! I want my money back!
